For a third year in a row, the Abdullah Gül University joined the EURIE – Eurasian Higher Education Summit, organized yearly in Istanbul and part of the most important international higher education conferences in the World, along with NAFSA (North America), APAIE (Asia-Pacific) and EAIE (Europe).
This year again, for EURIE 2018 – “Building Bridges for International Education“, the Abdullah Gül University was part of the Study in Turkey pavilion (which brought together 28 Turkish higher education institutions).
AGU held a booth there, in order to receive representatives of other universities and to discuss potential partnership opportunities.
Overall, this year’s four-day conference attracted +300 visitors and +130 exhibitors from around 70 countries.
This year, the Keynote Speaker was Prof. Feridun Hamdullahpur, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Waterloo, who presented the following topic: “Higher Education Under Microscope: Why is Innovation in Higher Education Essential for Our Future?“
EURIE 2018 attendees also enjoyed a speech entitled “Nothing is Impossible“ by Special Guest Speaker Deedee Trotter, U.S. Olympian and gold medalist in the sport of track and field.

Prof.Dr. Sabuncuoğlu presented the Abdullah Gül University case study during the parallel session entitled “From Third to Next Generation Universities: The AGU Experience“.
Mrs Güç hosted a workshop entitled “You(th) Make the Difference – Impact of the Youth Program and Non-Formal Learning in Erasmus+”
Prior to the Summit, the AGU International Office members had also joined the Turkish-Arab Universities Conference. There, Emeric and Yakup connected with Arab universities and represented the Abdullah Gül University during a mini-fair.
The EURIE Summit was also was the opportunity for our University members to meet and exchange with representatives of other universities and to work on new partnership developments and to meet existing partners again.
